Obituary of John B. Sullivan
John B. Sullivan, Esq., “Jack”, 91, of Simsbury, died Monday June 26, 2017 in Bonita Springs, FL. Born May 19, 1926 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Frank J. and Mary (Johnson) Sullivan, he was raised in Waterbury and had lived in Simsbury since 1958. John was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and the University of Connecticut Law School. He established a law office in Waterbury where he practiced law, with his brother, Bill prior to his retirement. Jack was drafted by the New York Giants, and as a result, he attended college on a full scholarship and played minor league baseball. He had served in the US Army during World War II. He was one of the founders of Waterbury Bank and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was past president and one of the organizers of the Western Hills Golf League in Waterbury. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tara and Tom Mulryan of Glastonbury, two sons Shawn Sullivan of Torrington and Shannon Sullivan of Fort Myers Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Kaitlin Mulryan and her fiancé Joel Kershner of Boston, Colleen Mulryan and Patrick Mulryan, both of Glastonbury, a brother, James Sullivan and his wife, Lorele, of Charleston, RI, five sisters, Joan Barrett of Waterbury, Alice Guerrera, of Woodbury, Barbara Cavanaugh and Helen Anderson both of Waterbury, and Brenda Sullivan Snyder and her husband, George Snyder of Hebron. He was predeceased by the love of his life Ann Morini, four brothers, Frank, William, Robert and Richard and two sisters Mary Lou Sullivan and Kathleen Dunn Harris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 1st at 10am in the Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch St., Avon. Burial with military honors will follow in Simsbury Cemetery, Plank Hill Rd., Simsbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Friday June 30th from 4-6pm.
