Obituary of Thelma Eveline (Sjoberg) Fullerton
Thelma Eveline (Sjoberg) Fullerton, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at age 85 on July 2, 2017 at Masonicare in Newtown. She was the beloved wife of Frederick Fullerton of 57 years. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on February 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Thekla (Berglund) Sjoberg. She graduated from Walpole Senior High School with the Class of 1949.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church Norwood MA and the Lutheran Church of St. Mark in Glastonbury CT. Thelma will be remembered for her calm yet strong presence. A practical woman with a gift of common sense and optimism, she was dearly loved by her family, children and grandchildren. Thelma married Frederick Fullerton on October 16, 1959. Thelma and Fred enjoyed dancing at Runeberg Hall, traveling, and raising their family as they relocated first to New Hampshire and later to Ohio, Virginia, and New Jersey before settling back home in New England in Glastonbury, Connecticut. Thelma worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years, retiring with Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford CT. In retirement, Thelma and Fred enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and especially trips to Sweden and Aland Islands, coffee with friends and family, gardening, all living creatures, caring for her grandchildren, baking, and especially family gatherings. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Thekla Sjoberg, and her siblings Raphael Sjoberg, Joan Sjoberg Carlson, and Nancy Sjoberg. Besides her husband, Thelma is survived by her children, Fred Fullerton, Jr, Warwick, RI and his wife Joan, Susan Fullerton Arndt, and her husband James Arndt, Woodbury CT, Jon Fullerton, New York, NY, Kristine Fullerton Bilenki, and her husband Wade, Clemmons NC
Mark Fullerton, Hartford CT, her sister in law Barbara Sjoberg of RI and brother-in-law Robert Carlson of Charlton, MA, her grandchildren: Michael Arndt, Eric Arndt, Justin Arndt, Kyra Bilenki and Rachel Bilenki.
