Dear family I met Imants Gorbants in the 1970's when he was in the UK visiting my Uncle Bob Mundy who was a distributor of specialist tooling including Bridgeport Milling Machines and a number of Moore Special Tool Products. They came for tea at our family home in Sevenoaks in Kent, England. You will be amazed to know I only spoke with him for about 20 minutes but that experience has profoundly impacted my life ever since. I was about 17 at the time (now 57) but I have quoted his name more times than I care to mention whenever I have been asked - who are the people that have most profoundly impacted your perspective in life. His desire to get away from Latvia to Sweden in itself was staggering under the circumstances but I shall never forget him saying he found Sweden dull and cold (not my experience I hasten to add) and that the bold decision was then taken to sail to the US. The boldness of that decision cannot be underestimated and I have used it as a personal challenge every time there has been a prospect of my under performing or not being bold. I was sad to see his passing but he obviously had a great life in later years. I am greatly encouraged by his faith - something my wife and family have and share in the UK. If ever any family member is visiting London do think to get in touch - it would be nice to have the chance to repay the impact he had on me. God Bless Henry Chandler

My sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. Be assured that the almighty God truly cares for the family! May you find comfort in the promise that "... there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous" (Acts 24:15), and very soon "... no resident will say, 'I am sick'" (Isa. 33:24) because "... death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. One of my fondest memories was meeting Imants on my very first week of work at Moore. I want Imant’s family to know that our employees still tell wonderful stories of him even to this day. His high energy combined with solving any problem you had was always followed by a one liner that would leave you smiling. His office number was 226 and we never visited his old office without a feeling that we would miss him always and those were the good old days. I still remembering trying to do my best by bringing parts that I was cleaning to his precision assembly area as fast as I could. He turned to me and said, “O your like the little Doe Boy bring out loafs of fresh bread” I could only imagine what enjoyment his family and grandchildren gave him. We will always remember him as one of the best. Paul
