Obituary of Ronald Ernest Oberg

Ronald Ernest Oberg, 81, of Glastonbury passed away peacefully on September 8 following a long battle with cancer. He was born to the late Ernest and Elsie Oberg, June 14, 1936 in Norwich, CT. Ron graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1954 and received a BA in Mathematics from Brown University in 1958. He also received an MBA from the University of Connecticut in 1970. He married Mary McCaffrey in 1962 and they moved to Glastonbury in 1964. Ron was an Information Systems Administrator for the State of Connecticut in DAS until he retired in 1998. Ron was a long time member of the Glastonbury Yacht Club. Ron is survived by his wife, Mary, along with three children and their spouses: Karen & Charles Dimock; Mark & Ann Oberg; Kristen & Shawn Goode. He is also survived by three very special grandchildren: Shawn, Ryan and Shaelyn. Ron is survived by a brother and sister: Harold Oberg; Sandra Gundlach; and their families. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 12 from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave. in Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at 10 am on Wednesday, September 13 in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury followed by the burial in St. Augustine Cemetery.
