Obituary of Olga Quackenbush Corban
Olga M. (Quackenbush) Corban, 84 of Glastonbury, passed away at home on Saturday September 9th. Born in Oak Park, IL on August 5th, 1933, daughter of the late E. Clarke and Ruth M. Quackenbush. She lived in Illinois and Minnesota, and eventually settled in Glastonbury, where she lived for over 50 years. Olga retired as an independent Title Searcher, and previously worked for the law firm Wynne, Pontillo, and Lynch. She attended the University of Connecticut where she received a Bachelor’s degree in landscape design. Olga enjoyed gardening, and spent many hours caring for her yard. In fact she could be found outside pulling weeds right up to her very last days. She was a member of the Glastonbury Garden Club for many years, where she was involved in planting and caring for the period gardens at the Welles-Shipman-Ward house in South Glastonbury. She was also active in local politics as a member of the Republican town committee and served as Registrar of Voters, on the Community Beautification Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission. She was a loyal UCONN women’s basketball fan, rarely missing a game on TV or radio. Olga is survived by her children, Susan Russo and husband Tom of New Mexico, David Corban and wife Sheila of Glastonbury, grandson Will Corban of New York City; brothers Ted Quackenbush, John Quest, sisters Ruth Russell, her husband Chuck, and Marion Treichler, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held privately.
