Obituary of Trudy McKeon Daly

Trudy McKeon Daly, of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, died suddenly in New York City on October 7, 2017. Born in New Haven, Connecticut to James F. and Marian D. McKeon, Mrs. Daly was the proud and loving wife of the late Gerald Radley Daly. Mr. and Mrs. Daly—both fiercely devoted to their many family members and friends—enjoyed sailing their boats, Romance and Morning Glory, out of Stonington Harbor, skiing in Vermont, and spending time with their beloved dog, Jingle Bell, who survives them both.

Mrs. Daly leaves behind her three best friends, her sisters: Judith McKeon Willard, Jeanne McKeon Kades, and Claire McKeon Nicholls. She also leaves her loving stepchildren: Jed Daly and Joanna Johnson, Malcolm and Karen Daly, and Maggie Daly; her beloved grandchildren: Mason Daly, Carey Daly, Kit Daly, and Alessandra Daly Johnson; her dear in-laws: Gordon Willard, Patricia McKeon, and Anne McKeon; and her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she thought of as her children: Mary Lynn McKeon and Linda Bell; Maureen, William, and Maggie Armstrong; Megan, Jonathan, Connor, Sullivan, and Quinn Ulrich; Gordon, Elizabeth Sulock, Aubrey, and Abigail Willard; Shannon McKeon and Morgan Dubay; Kevin, Patricia, Marianne Integlia, Madison, and Kailyn McKeon; Julie, Dustin, and Reagan Mundey; Brendan McKeon and Neil Riback; Michael and Meredith McKeon; Bethany, Randy and Mickaylah Matos; Kristen Kades and Ian Sanders; Caitlin McKeon-Nicholls and Michael Sutterlin; Ryan, Elizabeth, and Addison Nicholls; and Erin Nicholls.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Daly was predeceased by her brothers, James F. McKeon, III and John McKeon; her brothers-in-law, Peter Kades, Harry Nicholls, and Radley Daly; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Daly Fricker.

Mrs. Daly was a proud alumna of Laurelton Hall and of Albertus Magnus College, where she met many lifelong friends. She spent more than five decades working in public relations at The Hartford, where she served in a number of senior management roles, including Assistant Vice President, Personal Lines. Throughout her life, Mrs. Daly was a dedicated member of many boards, including: The Cove Center for Grieving Children, Mercy Center, and United Way of Southington. Mrs. Daly’s charitable devotion was no more apparent than in her retirement, when she served as the Pastoral Associate at her parish, St. Augustine Church, where she was also an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and an RCIA leader.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by one of Mrs. Daly’s close friends, Father Kevin Cavanaugh, at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury, at 10a.m. on Saturday, October 14. Those wishing to pay their last respects to Mrs. Daly may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, on Friday, October 13, between 4 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Daly’s memory may be made to The PuppyUp Foundation – CT Shoreline at https://puppyupwalk.org/shoreline/donate/ or to St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury, Connecticut.
