Obituary of Richard M. Malloy

Richard Michael (Dick) Malloy, 78, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Joanellen Hull Malloy for 53 years, died peacefully Tuesday January 16, 2018 at home. Born June 21, 1939 in Hartford, son of the late Mark F., Jr. and Bernice Albrycht Malloy, he lived in Glastonbury since 1974. He attended Bulkeley High School and the University of Connecticut. Dick was a mortgage originator at financial institutions including Mechanics Savings Bank, Sirianni Mortgage Corp., Webster Bank and United Bank. He was employed at the Hartford Courant, where he would happily spend his weekend mornings assisting Courant customers on the phone. In his free time, Dick enjoyed painting, gardening, raising roses, and relaxing at the beach with his family. He enjoyed his leisurely Sunday drives touring neighborhoods in Glastonbury and surrounding areas and loved spending time with all his grandchildren. Besides his wife he is survived by his four children and their families, Mark F. III, and Shelly Malloy, Makylie, Kyle and Kelton of Gainesville, VA, Jennifer and Eli Garrett, Lily and Olivia of Sturbridge, MA, Todd and Tonya Malloy, Ethan, Spencer and Gavin of Wethersfield, Jonathan and Janet Malloy, Grady and Tyler of West Hartford and several nieces and nephews.  Richard’s family will receive friends, Sunday January 21 from 4-7pm, at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 22 at 10am in St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford.
