Obituary of Patricia V. Low
Patricia (Villard) Low, 76, of Glastonbury died on Friday January 26, 2018 at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center in Manchester. She was born in Hartford on November 2, 1941 to the late Charles and Alice Villard. She grew up in East Hartford where she attended the Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Michael Low. Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana”. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and Democrat. She worked at Travelers for 15+ years. After that she was a member of the State Labor Relations Board. She was the first woman Chairman of the Labor Board since the Board started in 1946. She served at the “pleasure of the governor”. She loved the town of Glastonbury and being a part of it. She practically served on every board and commission in the town. If she believed in someone or something, she was as passionate as anyone. She would fight for them or the cause until they won! She was the first woman chairman of the Democratic Town Committee in 1976. Most recently her post has been a long-standing member of the Town Planning and Zoning Commission. She would help all candidates that she believed in. Big campaign or small. She understood better than most how much they all mattered. She also loved Ogunquit with her family and friends, watching local town sports, UCONN Basketball and the Yankees. Pat is survived by her daughter Tracey and husband Jeff Grote, and her Angels, Emily and Samantha of Glastonbury. She is also survived by her brother Charles Villard (Linda) of Coventry, and in-laws Peter Low (Imogene) of Cape Cod, Timothy Low of FL, Susan Harkins (Ken) of MA, Barbara Low (Nancy) of Cape Cod. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Steven, Jeffrey, David, Cathy, Matthew, Deborah, Michelle, Charles, and Scott. As well as numerous great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved nephew Brian. A special thank you to some of her closest friends that helped make her life more special through the years, Jimmy, Mikki, Doris, Sandy, Pam and Zelda. And a special thank you to her neighbor for 40+ years, Connie. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Paul Church 2577 Main St. Glastonbury. Private burial will be at a later date. Friends and family may call on Tuesday January 30, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
