My Friend and Brother
He passed quietly on Memorial Day weekend but in the Heavens the trumpets sounded, the drums rolled, and the Angels snapped to attention, a hero was passing, one of God's warriors
With features seemingly carved from stone, his silence was deafening, and rarely would he speak above a whisper but if you were his friend you knew, that like the iceberg, just below the surface, there was so much more to discover
He had a boundless love for his family, country and friends. his family was his center of life, friendships were a life sentences and quality was more important than quantity when selecting his friends. He loved his country with every ounce of his being and when his country called he didn't hesitate to put his life on the line to preserve our countries precious hard earned freedoms.
He was a reluctant hero uncomfortable with that title, yet he performed feats of bravery that humbled the most experienced warriors and through 30 years of friendship he never uttered a single word about his extraordinarily brave actions. Humble and unassuming he was a warriors warrior by anyone's standard
Throughout his life he earned many titles, husband, father, warrior, grandfather but the title I'm most grateful for is friend. He was my best friend and that's a title I will wear proudly for as long as I live
Over the years we used to say to each other, dying is easy, dying with dignity is a challenge, you lived your life with dignity and honor my friend, and you leave here with dignity and honor God Bless John Hogan....Airborne All the Way
Sadly, and Respectfully Earle L Jackson l
